Albury City Council has confirmed Wesley Mission as the new provider of Out of School Hours (OOSH) care at Albury Public School and Albury North Public School.
The NSW Department of Education, together with the schools, announced Wesley Mission will commence providing OOSH services from the first day of Term 4.
The Department and the schools will work with the Council to support the transition for children, families and employees, as Council steps away from the provision of OOSH services at the end of Term 3.
Council Acting CEO, Gael Evans-Bar said the appointment of a new provider gives greater certainty for families and is expected to help maintain continuity of OOSH care for the school communities.
“We know how important OOSH services are to local families, and we are pleased that an experienced provider has been appointed to continue supporting children and parents,” Ms Evans-Barr said.
“In our discussions with Wesley Mission, we have been encouraged by their commitment to children, families and community. As a not-for-profit organisation, they share many of the values that have guided AlburyCity’s approach to these services, including a focus on providing inclusive and accessible OOSH care.
“While any change can bring uncertainty, our priority is to ensure children and families experience as little disruption as possible. We are working closely with Wesley Mission, the Department of Education and both schools to support the transition process and maintain a welcoming and supportive environment throughout the handover.”
Ms Evans-Barr also acknowledged the support provided by the NSW Department of Education throughout the process.
“I would like to thank the Department of Education for its guidance, support and collaboration over recent months. Their commitment to working alongside AlburyCity and the school communities has been instrumental in achieving a positive outcome for families.”
She said planning was already underway to ensure the handover is as seamless as possible, and children feel comfortable and supported as the new arrangements commence.
