Alice Springs Town Council has announced the appointment of Sally O’Callaghan as its new Director of Infrastructure Services.
The Council says Ms O’Callaghan brings over 20 years of experience in property and infrastructure management, with a proven track record of delivering major capital works and leading high-performing teams across the Northern Territory and Queensland. Most recently, she served as Regional Director Barkly with the Department of Infrastructure and Logistics (NT Government), where she was responsible for a $190 million infrastructure program spanning across built infrastructure, transport and civil infrastructure, and housing services.
Her leadership has seen the successful delivery of complex projects such as:

- Barkly Highway and Stuart Highway upgrades and extensive road maintenance programs;
- Improvements to major community assets including schools, health clinics and recreational
facilities; - Emergency response and recovery efforts during the Barkly Floods and Bushfires, for which
she was awarded a Bushfire NT 2023 Wildfire Medal.
Born and raised in Alice Springs, Ms O’Callaghan said she is passionate about contributing to the community she calls home. - “I am committed to delivering on the Alice Springs Town Council’s significant investment to transform and shape the future of our town. With a forward-thinking approach, I aim to drive meaningful outcomes that reflect the community’s needs and shape a sustainable future with lasting benefits,” she said.
Alice Springs Town Council Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilsmore said the Council was delighted to welcome Ms O’Callaghan back to Alice Springs.
“Her deep local roots, combined with her outstanding record of delivering complex infrastructure projects and building strong, collaborative teams, make her the ideal leader for this critical role,” said Mr Wilsmore.
“Sally’s vision and commitment to community outcomes align perfectly with Council’s priorities, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have on our town’s future.
“Sally will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Alice Springs, leading the charge on a $20 million improvement to the town’s Central Business District (CBD), and at the helm of constructing a new $20 million library and tourist information centre, a cornerstone for
education and tourism in our region.”
Ms O’Callaghan begins with Alice Springs Town Council on Monday 19 January.
