Amanda Yeates will lead the development of Maroochydore’s new city centre, after being named Chief Executive Officer of SunCentral Maroochydore by Sunshine Coast Council.
Ms Yeates (pictured) will depart the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, where she is Deputy Director General, to take up the new role.
“A new chapter. A new opportunity to combine my passion for prosperity in our regions with the love of my home here on the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Yeates wrote in an online post regarding her new role.
“Today, with bittersweet emotions, I began saying farewell to my TMR family as I have accepted the role as Chief Executive Officer of SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd.
“I recorded a video yesterday to share the news within TMR and it was difficult to get the words out without emotion overwhelming me. I am finding it difficult even to write this message as I have so many people to thank, experiences to acknowledge and an enormous amount of gratitude for my time with the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
“Equally, I’m grateful to SunCentral for recognising my passion and zeal for growing Queensland communities—entrusting me to steer the development of one of Australia’s most significant urban master developments.
“Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with me to send their well wishes. I look forward to sharing more words with you over the next few weeks as I reflect on my time with the Queensland Government.”
Ms Yeates will start in her new role next month. She replaces John Knaggs, who announced in April that he will step down from the CEO role after seven years.
