City of Adelaide Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Michael Sedgman, has been chosen to lead the organisation for the next three years as its CEO.
Lord Mayor, Jane Lomax-Smith said Mr Sedgman (pictured) demonstrated a superior understanding of the many challenges and opportunities Council faces, as well as an in-depth understanding of the strategic plan and goals of the organisation
“It was an extensive and thorough recruitment process which began back in January and, the selection panel, following its many meetings and deliberations found Michael to be the outstanding candidate,” said the Lord Mayor.
“There is no doubt Michael is one of the most highly qualified and experienced local government professionals in Australia and is the best candidate to lead our organisation into the future.”
Beyond his skills in strategic planning, the Lord Mayor said Mr Sedgman was a strong communicator, astute manager of finances and had a wealth of experience in areas such as governance, major projects and human resource management.
“He is passionate about local government as well as our city and has a strong connection with our staff,” she said.
“Importantly, Michael also has strong existing relationships with city leaders and stakeholders, as well as with leaders within state government and the local government sector.
“Michael will hit the ground running because he understands our strengths and where we need to focus our energy in the future.
“I congratulate Michael on his appointment and look forward to continuing to work closely with him.”
