National assets report set for launch

The National State of the Assets Report 2021 will be launched on 9 December, with the key findings to be discussed at an interactive webinar.

Federal Assistant Minister for Local Government, Kevin Hogan, will attend the launch, along with Infrastructure Australia CEO, Romilly Madew, National Farmers Federation President, Fiona Simson, and IPWEA President, Myles Lind.

The NSoA is the fourth report from a longitudinal study begun by the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) in 2012 to track the value, performance, and management of local government infrastructure assets across the nation.

The project is also designed to:

  • Provide a consistent and evidence-based approach for infrastructure reporting;
  • Quantify the challenges for infrastructure in the future; and
  • Provide a sound rationale for targeted support to local government from other spheres of government.

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) worked with ALGA on the 2021 report, which was based on survey data from 454 councils across seven asset categories.

The report will be formally launched by ALGA President, Linda Scott.

Industry leaders will discuss the key findings, and attendees will be able to access the summary and complete reports via direct download.

A Q&A session will also be part of the hour-long event starting at 2pm AEDT on 9 December.
