Murrumbidgee Mayor honoured for 20 years of service

Murrumbidgee Council Mayor, Ruth McRae OAM, has been celebrated for her remarkable 20 years of dedicated service to local government, marking a significant milestone in her career in public office.

In a moving surprise, Mayor McRae’s family visited to help commemorate the momentous occasion at the council’s August, adding a personal touch to the celebrations.

In recognising Mayor McRae’s time in office, Deputy Mayor, Robert Black commended her unwavering commitment to the community. He highlighted Mayor McRae’s impactful contributions across the wider region and throughout the Murrumbidgee Council area.

Mayor McRae said it was a deep honour to receive the recognition.

“I couldn’t have achieved this without the tremendous support from my family, fellow councillors, staff and the community,” she said.

“Thank you all for your encouragement throughout these years.”

Looking ahead, Mayor McRae emphasised her dedication to continue working collaboratively for the betterment of the Murrumbidgee Council area and the wider region.

“I look forward to continuing to work with you and for you to enhance the well-being of our community,” she said.
