Mildura Rural council appoints healthy communities manager

Mildura Rural City Council has announced the appointment of Mark Jenkins as General Manager Healthy Communities as part of the Council’s ongoing restructure.

Chief Executive Officer, Martin Hawson said Mr Jenkins’ broad-ranging role would have a strong focus on the health and well-being of the community.

“Mark has an incredibly diverse range of management experience in the local government sector, overseeing everything from waste management through to the arts over more than four decades,” Mr Hawson said.

“This vast experience, combined with his qualifications, makes him the ideal person to lead a branch responsible for ensuring everyone in our community feels included and connected while ensuring access to health and other importance services, such as parks and open spaces.”

As General Manager Healthy Communities, Mr Jenkins will be responsible for Community Care, Community Partnerships, Libraries and Knowledge Hubs and Parks and Recreation Services.

He has over 40 years’ experience in local government working across the environmental, planning, sustainability, arts and community areas.

“I am looking forward to taking on this new role, which will provide me with an opportunity to work side-by-side with our community to achieve positive outcomes that improve liveability across our municipality,” said Mr Jenkins.

Mr Hawson said it was encouraging to have almost completed the first round of appointments as part of the organisation’s restructure.
