Former Benalla Rural City Council Mayor, Danny Claridge, has been recognised at the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV)
Councillor Service Awards with a Mayor Emeritus Award.
The prestigious honour is awarded to Councillors who have served three or more terms as Mayor, acknowledging their enduring leadership, commitment to public service, and the lasting legacy they leave in local government.
In congratulating Mr Claridge, Mayor Bernie Hearn said the recognition was well deserved.
“Danny has made a lasting contribution to Benalla through his leadership, service, and dedication to our community,” Mayor Hearn said.
“This award is a fitting tribute to his years of commitment and the positive impact he’s had on local government and the people of Benalla.
“Danny’s leadership has helped shape the direction of Benalla Rural City, and his legacy continues to influence the work of the Council today.”
The Service Awards were held following the MAV Annual Conference, where the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Keane, joined council representatives from across Victoria to connect, learn, and share ideas for strengthening local communities.
