City of Casey Council has this week acknowledged the conclusion of a 12-month appointment of State Government Municipal Monitors, Cameron Boardman and Peter Stephenson, with their term officially ending today.
Mayor, Stefan Koomen (pictured) said the day marks an important milestone for the Councillor group.
“Over the past 12 months, Councillors have worked hard to re-build trust, strengthen governance, and reconnect with our community. From day one, we’ve been committed to improving transparency in our decision-making,” said Mayor Koomen.
“We have made it a priority to listen and respond to the needs of our residents.
“Throughout our first year, we have worked with the Monitors in place as part of Council’s transition back to elected representation. We thank Mr Boardman and Mr Stephenson for completing their appointment and contributing to the return of Councillors for our community.
“This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Casey. We are proud to serve our community. With the support of our residents, we are excited about the many great things we can achieve for the Casey community.”
Following the October 2024 City of Casey Council Elections, Municipal Monitors were appointed for Casey by the Victorian Government for 12 months to guide the incoming Council. The appointment aimed to support Council in its transition back to elected Councillors following a period under Administration.
