City of Logan Council will roll out a major road resurfacing program in early
2024, with 52 streets across multiple suburbs to receive attention.
Potholes and other defects will be repaired in the first stage of works, before the roads are spray-sealed and lines re-marked.
Council says the program of works was finalised after an exhaustive identification process. Vehicle-mounted sensors and cameras ‘scanned’ the streets to detect roughness and defects. Council engineers then went out on foot to inspect and assess where
work was required, said Infrastructure Chair, Councillor Teresa Lane.
She said Council will use about 40,000 tonnes of asphalt – enough to cover about 80km of road – in the program in 2024.
“It’s the roadworks equivalent of repainting your house to protect it from the elements,” Cr Lane said.
“We do a huge amount on our 2,400km roads network every year to keep it in good shape for drivers.”
