Lights to stay on in Liverpool

Liverpool City Council will extend lighting periods and keep all parks, playgrounds and outdoor fitness stations open during the NSW Health stay-at-home order in place until midnight next Friday.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said extended lighting would also be provided to a number of parks and ovals across the city to ensure all residents had a chance to get outdoors even when the sun goes down earlier in winter while still adhering to the NSW Government’s physical distancing and hygiene requirements.

“We understand the positive benefits as outlined by NSW Health that regular exercise and getting outside can have on our community during a difficult time like this,” Mayor Waller said.

Lighting has been extended until 7pm every weekday at the following locations:

  • Childs Park, Central Avenue, Chipping Norton;
  • Australis Park, Australis Avenue, Wattle Grove;
  • Bigge Park, Bigge Street, Liverpool;
  • Edwin Wheeler Reserve, Maxwells Avenue, Sadleir;
  • Brownes Farm Reserve, First Avenue, Hoxton Park;
  • Greenway Park No.2, Greenway Drive, West Hoxton;
  • WV Scott Memorial Park, Edmondson Avenue, Austral; and
  • Cirillo Oval, Bird Walton Ave, Middleton Grange.

“I would like to thank our City Presentation team for providing key frontline services to our community to ensure they are kept safe during this time. This includes regular deep cleaning of our playgrounds and fitness stations, playground inspections and ongoing park maintenance,” said Mayor Waller.
