The Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT) has welcomed the announcement that former board member and Katherine Town Council Mayor, Fay Miller OAM, will receive a State Funeral.
“On behalf of the Board, staff and member councils, President of the Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT), the Hon Kon Vatskalis, would like to extend his sincere condolences to family and friends of the late Fay Miller OAM,” the Association said in a statement.
“Fay was a parliamentary colleague of Kon’s, former Mayor of the Katherine Town Council and LGANT Board member from 2012-2020, and a fantastic person. She showed that fierce advocacy can be done with respect, grace and poise.”
A champion for Katherine, regional NT and for local government, Fay leaves a legacy of a love for community service to all of those who met her, the Association said.
The State Funeral will be held on 26 May in Darwin, with further details to be announced by the NT Government soon.
