Key transport upgrades progress in Blue Mountains

Blue Mountains City Council has completed road upgrades along Railway Parade between Wentworth Falls and Bullaburra, with major works on in the Megalong Valley now also underway

The Railway Parade project delivered road stabilisation and pavement improvements along 5.6 kilometres of road between Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls, and Hay Street, Bullaburra, helping to improve the long-term condition and safety of this important local connection.

Construction on the Megalong Road component of the program began last week.

Mayor, Mark Greenhill said the completion of the Railway Parade works marked an important milestone in delivering the Australian Government-funded program.

“The completion of the Railway Parade upgrades is a positive outcome for the local community and demonstrates progress being made through this important investment in our road network,” Mayor Greenhill said.

“This program is delivering major road upgrades over significant stretches of road, and we appreciate the community’s patience while these works are carried out.

“By following the temporary traffic controls and posted speed limits, drivers can help keep our workers and everyone travelling through the area safe.”

The Megalong Road project will upgrade approximately nine kilometres of road between Old Ford Reserve and Blackheath Glen Reserve in the Megalong Valley.

Works will include pavement rehabilitation, road stabilisation, regrading and a new sealed road surface. Construction will be carried out in stages and is expected to continue until November 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.

The project is delivered by Blue Mountains City Council and funded by the Australian Government.
