The inaugural Hobart Airport Marathon Festival is set to showcase Tasmania’s capital city in a new light.
The running event will highlight the spectacular Constitution Dock, River Derwent and Salamanca wharves, before participants head through a landscape of pristine waterways, untouched bushland and some rugged hills for two laps across greater Hobart.
The City of Hobart Council is a supporter of the first-time event.
Hobart Airport Marathon organiser, Todd Skipworth said there was great excitement building around the inaugural fun run.
“We are incredibly excited for the inaugural Hobart Airport Marathon Festival,” Mr Skipworth said.
“After almost two years of planning and countless hours of work we look forward to welcoming participants and supporters from Hobart and abroad.
“Every state in Australia will be represented on course, along with plenty of international participants choosing to line up for the first ever Hobart Airport Marathon Festival.”
He said the support of the City of Hobart Council was crucial to getting the event up and running.
“Events like these are impossible without the support of local council and community groups,” he said.
“The City of Hobart team has been integral in breathing life into the Hobart Airport Marathon both in their support of the event when it was just an idea but also in helping with the planning and infrastructure required to bring this idea to life.
“It has played an integral role in bringing an exciting new event to Hobart’s annual running calendar – an event that will draw interest from all around Australia and the world to experience the cleanest air and most unforgettable running scenery.”
The Hobart Airport Marathon Festival will be held on Sunday, September 25.
