Hepburn Shire partners for reusable products program

Hepburn Shire Council is partnering with Kyneton business Darlings Downunder to offer residents a reusable product voucher to reduce the upfront costs associated with purchasing reusable nappy, period and incontinence products.

Mayor, Tony Clark said the program would benefit families, young people and some older people in the community.

“We understand that many families want to make more sustainable choices but that the upfront costs associated with purchasing reusable products can be high. We’re committed to making sustainable options affordable and encourage our residents to make the most of this offer,” he said.

“Choosing reusable also goes a long way to reduce waste sent to landfill too. Around 660 million disposable nappies, sanitary and incontinence products end up in landfill in Australia each year. This number could be significantly reduced if those who can make the switch to reusables, do so,” he said.

Each household in the Shire can access one $50 voucher to purchase eligible items:

  • Cloth nappies
  • Swim nappies
  • Training pants
  • Wet bags
  • Reusable wipes
  • Reusable liners
  • Inserts and boosters
  • Cloth nappy covers
  • Period products (incl. swimwear)

The program runs until 31 May 2026, unless funds are exhausted prior. Minimum spend is $50.
