Georges River Council is inviting the community to help shape the area’s first Playground and Playspace Strategy.
The Council currently manages 118 playgrounds and playspaces across the area, ranging from small neighbourhood playgrounds to larger district and regional destinations. It says some playgrounds are already well-loved and well-used, while others need renewal or redesign to better meet the needs of the community.
The new Strategy will guide how Council manages, improves and creates playspaces over the next 10 years. This includes creating welcoming, inclusive playspaces for people with disabilities and diverse needs, said Mayor, Elise Borg.
At this stage, Council is seeking community feedback on what works well, what needs improvement, and what matters most in playspaces, she said.
“Playspaces are essential places for connection, learning and wellbeing.”
“I encourage community members to provide feedback.
“Your input will guide our planning for the next decade and help us create safe and inclusive playspaces,” the Mayor said.
The public consultation period is open until Friday 6 February 2026.
