Fraser Coast businesses seeking assistance with staff recruitment are being encouraged to sign up for a free Council-run program that’s set to kick off next month.
The Business Manager Program has been developed as part of Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Hervey Bay Jobs Ready Program, which is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Social Services.
Councillor Jade Wellings said Council was keen to ensure the Fraser Coast had a strong, resilient and diversified economy that supported growth and long term jobs.
“The Fraser Coast has traditionally had a high number of people looking for work, yet at the same time businesses struggle to find and retain employees with the right skills,” she said.
“Under the Hervey Bay Jobs Ready Program, Council is delivering a regular three-week jobs training program to upskill, build job readiness and provide intensive support to unemployed people aged 35 years and under.
“We are now also offering a Business Manager Program from 2 August 2022, which will focus on assisting business owners and business managers.
“The program will feature guest speakers sharing insights about effective staff recruitment and retention strategies and will provide opportunities to network and collaborate with other local businesses.
“The program will help business owners and managers work on their business, instead of in their business.”
The Business Manager Program will run from 2 August to 1 September at the Hervey Bay Jobs Ready office at 1/65 Main Street in Pialba.
Limited spaces are available with the program running for four hours a day, one day a week over five weeks, with participants having the option of attending on a Tuesday or a Thursday.
Two additional rounds of the Business Manager Program will also be held in early 2023.
