Singleton Public Library is getting a refresh thanks to $189,125 in NSW Government funding from the Public Library Infrastructure Grants program to help create a more modern, accessible and flexible space for the community.
As part of the upgrade works, the Library’s existing 8.3 metre front counter will be replaced with two new purpose-built customer service counters – one dedicated to returns and the other for loans, enquiries and assistance from Library staff.
“We’re redesigning the front counter service to be more accessible, functional and welcoming for everyone,” Council said in a statement.
The upgrades will include:
- Two new purpose-built customer service counters for returns, loans and enquiries;
- Moveable shelving to create flexible spaces for programs, events and our collection;
- Larger, more comfortable computer stations;
- A height-adjustable self-check machine for greater accessibility.
Council says the project builds on the library’s recent furniture renewal and is another step towards creating an inclusive, functional space that can continue to evolve with the community.
The full project is expected to be completed by the end of September, with minimal disruption to library services.
