Design for $21 million Parramatta green boulevard revealed

A detailed design for Block 3 of Parramatta’s 450-metre green pedestrian boulevard – connecting Parramatta Square to Parramatta River – is now on public exhibition.

The plans for Civic Link Block 3 incorporate community feedback from the draft concept design and include more than 3,000 plants, multiple gathering spaces and seating options for the community to enjoy.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor, Martin Zaiter said the project is a once-in-a-generation transformation that creates social spaces for the community to meet and play in the CBD.

“Imagine the endless opportunities for our workers, residents and visitors when Civic Link connects Parramatta River to Parramatta Square, which reached 485,000 visitors last year,” Lord Mayor Zaiter said.

“I ask our community to take a look and have their say before we finalise plans for our City’s multi-million dollar grand boulevard.

“Once complete, Civic Link will not only connect the CBD to the future Metro West and Powerhouse Parramatta, it will serve as a beautiful, green space for people to meet, grab a coffee and shop along the way.”

Additional features of Civic Link (Block 3) include:

  • Pavement and signage for the shared walking and cycling paths
  • Architectural lighting for nighttime character
  • Diverse seating options to suit different needs
  • Widening part of the footpath

Funding for the project’s design and construction is from the NSW Government’s Accelerated Infrastructure Fund ($10.56m) and Commonwealth’s Housing Support Program – Community Enabling Infrastructure Scheme ($10.1 million)

The project is due commence construction in late 2025.
