City of Moreton Bay Council has won three major accolades at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Awards, including the prestigious Employer of the Year category for the public sector.
The awards celebrate the very best in skills, planning, and engineering across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
In addition to being named Employer of the Year, the Council also took out the ‘Projects $2 million to 5 million’ and the ‘Emerging Leader of the Year’ awards and had nominees in a further six categories.
Mayor, Peter Flannery said the outstanding result recognised the calibre and hard work of Council and its teams.
“It’s an incredible honour for City of Moreton Bay to win multiple awards in such a prestigious awards program,” he said.
“To be named Employer of the Year is a phenomenal accolade and one that reflects Council’s workplace culture and its strong commitment to people-first leadership, innovation and measurable workforce outcomes.
“We are also immensely proud of our planners, engineers and project managers who work so hard to deliver such incredible projects for our community. Winning multiple award categories shows that they are among the very best in Queensland.”
City of Moreton Bay’s Margate – Cox Street Drainage Upgrade took out the ‘Projects $2 million to $5 million’ category. The complex project delivered a significant improvement in flood resilience within a highly constrained urban environment, setting a strong benchmark for managing complex urban drainage challenges and delivering community-focused infrastructure outcomes.
Council’s Project Manager – Local Community Infrastructure, Sarah Peet, was named Emerging Leader of the Year. The award recognises her leadership as well as her work in playgrounds, streetscapes, signage, ‘place identity’, photography and communication boards, and unwavering commitment to deliver spaces that not only function but mean something to the individuals who use them.
