City of Casey set for AFL season kick-off

As part of the City of Casey Council’s partnership with the Melbourne Football Club, Casey Fields is gearing up to host the Melbourne vs North Melbourne practice match on Friday 20 February.

Now in its 16th year, The Council says its partnership with the club continues to deliver meaningful, inclusive and community-focused football and engagement opportunities for residents of all ages across the municipality.

Mayor, Stefan Koomen says the enduring partnership reflects Council’s commitment to working alongside organisations that share its community values.

“Whether it’s women’s football, First Nations engagement, youth development or simply giving families access to live games and experiences, this partnership continues to make a real difference with opportunities that connect our community through sport.  Council is proud of this long-standing partnership and the positive impact it continues to deliver to Casey residents,” the Mayor said.

Melbourne Football Club Chief Executive Officer, Paul Guerra says, “There is always great anticipation for the first practice match of the year, so it is very exciting to be hosting this hit-out against North Melbourne at Casey Fields next week.

“Our 16-year partnership with the City of Casey is an important component of the club and we are proud to work with Mayor Stefan Koomen, CEO Glenn Patterson and their teams on continuing to find ways this connection can positively impact the community.”

In addition to this month’s practice match, a wide range of activities and programs will be delivered throughout the year, providing Casey residents of all ages with opportunities to get involved, including:
