Back for its 20th anniversary year, and with the biggest line-up yet, Bankstown Bites will be held on Saturday 26 July from 10am-4pm at Olympic Parade and Griffith Park.
City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor, Bilal El-Hayek said the food extravaganza attracted food lovers from across Sydney and was an opportunity for local businesses to get involved.
“We’re a truly multicultural community and the dishes and foods on offer at Bankstown Bites will certainly be worth the visit,” he said.
“I’m particularly looking forward to meeting the celebrity chefs and showing off my cooking skills.”

The event will see celebrity chefs S’more Bistro’s ‘Big’ Sam Young and Sunday Kitchen’s Karima Hazim in bake-off battles set to captivate the thousands expected to attend the festival.
With more than 50 stallholders to tempt the tastebuds – visitors will get the chance to experience cooking demonstrations, dance and music performances, as well as celebrity chef meet and greets, interactive art, and food tours.
Sam – the owner of S’more and soon to be new sister restaurant, Young Palace, opening mid August – said he was excited to be a part of the iconic festival.
“This is a foodie’s dream day and I’m looking forward to being involved. I’ll be cooking a seafood chow mein on the main stage before having a meet and greet with everyone,” he said.
“There’s something for everyone at Bankstown Bites and I’m really looking forward to the bake-off with Karima.”

Karima – author of Sofra and viral sensation behind @sundaykitchen – said during the special bake-off, each chef would be asked to make a unique creation using a potato, with the audience to decide who wins in a main stage event sponsored by Western Union.
“It might sound like a humble ingredient, but we can do so much with it. Come watch us showcase our signature dishes and go head-to-head,” she said.
“Before Sam and I bake-off, I am also excited to be doing a live demonstration on the main stage where I will be cooking homemade Zaatar Bread with Labne.”
Joining Sam and Karima will be former My Kitchen Rules fan favourite Arrnott Olssen, who will also serve as performer festival MC.
“Bankstown Bites is one of my most favourite festivals and promises again to be a feast for the senses and a celebration of the diverse culinary landscape that makes Bankstown a true food destination,” Arrnott said.
