City of Canada Bay councillors today nominated Michael Megna as the local government area’s fifth Mayor, with the nomination to be taken to the NSW Governor for consideration.
“I am extremely proud to have been nominated by my fellow Councillors to the office of Mayor, pending consideration by the Governor,” Councillor Megna (pictured) said.
“The City of Canada Bay is a beautiful and vibrant area with a wonderful sense of community. I look forward to continuing the great work of this Council as Mayor, with a strong focus on core services and planning for a bright future for our residents, local businesses, and community organisations.”
Cr Megna was first elected to Drummoyne Council in 1987 and served four years as Deputy Mayor and six years as Mayor. In 2004, he was elected to the City of Canada Bay Council after the merger of Drummoyne and Concord Councils in 2000 and is now serving his eighth term.
Deputy Mayor, Joseph Cordaro will continue performing the functions of the Mayor until the appointment is ratified by the NSW Governor.
