Baw Baw council appoints interim CEO

Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the appointment of John Bennie as the organisation’s Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Council voted to offer the temporary leadership role to Mr Bennie (pictured) during this afternoon’s Confidential Council Meeting.

Mayor, Danny Goss said Mr Bennie will take on the role as the Council continues to work through the comprehensive recruitment process for a new permanent Chief Executive Officer, of which the advertising campaign will launch today.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Cohen Van der Velde for leading our organisation as Interim CEO over the last few months,” he said.

“John is a proven leader and accomplished CEO with a wealth of experience in Local Government. He is a former long-time CEO of the Greater City of Dandenong and will help the Council considerably in the months ahead. His experience will be invaluable.

“We look forward to John commencing next week and continuing to lead our organisation whilst we navigate the recruitment process for our new CEO,” said Mayor Goss.
