Applications open for Hobsons Bay CEO role

Applications are now open for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Victoria’s Hobsons Bay City Council.

In a statement, the Council said the new CEO will provide purposeful and strategic leadership, and will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including councillors, staff and the community.

“The successful candidate will foster a culture founded in trust and collaboration, as well as drive organisational performance, lead the rebuild of values and work to re-establish governance excellence,” it stated.

“Candidates will be assessed on a range of key success factors to find the right person for the role and the organisation.”

The CEO reports directly to the elected Councillors, with three directors and the communications, engagement and advocacy manager reporting directly to the CEO.

“Appointing a CEO is one of the most important roles of a Council and is a role the councillor group takes very seriously,” said Mayor, Daria Kellander.

“We will be looking for a person who models authentic, values driven leadership and someone who can build trust with councillors, community and staff.

“I look forward to meeting some great candidates to find the right fit for Hobsons Bay,” she said.

Former CEO, Aaron van Egmond, was suspended following a Council meeting vote in late January, before resigning in April.

The candidate information, position description and application link can be found here.
