Alice Springs councillor resigns

Alice Springs Town Councillor, Steve Brown, has tendered his resignation, citing ongoing health and personal issues.

Councillor Brown informed Council of his decision last week, with his resignation to take
effect immediately.

Alice Springs-born Cr Brown was first elected by the community in 2012 as a member of the 12th Alice Springs Town Council.

Following a four-year hiatus, he returned to the Chamber in 2021.

In a statement, Mayor, Mat Paterson said Cr Brown had been a fierce advocate for enhanced liveability across the community.

“Losing Steve from the chamber is sad to see. He has been a fantastic contributor as an Elected Member during this term, providing valuable insight with his local knowledge and passion,” Mayor Paterson said.

“Through his combined eight years as an Elected Member, Steve has been a credit to his community. While we will miss his insight in the Chamber, we recognise that Steve must put his personal health and needs first.

“On behalf of the entire 14th Council, we wish Steve all the best moving forward.”
