ALGA to host climate adaptation webinar

The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) is hosting a free climate adaptation webinar on 30 July to discuss the diverse contribution local governments are making across Australia.

ALGA recently conducted new research to paint the national picture of local government climate risk management and adaptation work.

This webinar on 30 July 2025 will:

  • Give you information about how other local governments approach the risks and opportunities that climate change pose to their communities;
  • Enable discussion with other local government attendees about their approaches, wins and challenges in managing climate change impacts;
  • Provide guidance on the tools, courses and learning opportunities available for local governments working on climate risk.

ALGA welcomes you to a free, online discussion about the diverse and significant contributions that local governments are making to adaptation in Australia.

The webinar will be broken into two sections, which you can join as relevant to you:

  • 2-3 pm Session One: ALGA’s Adapting Together research report and open discussion on managing the impacts of a changing climate.
  • 3-4 pm Session Two: Discussion on resources available to local governments to understand and manage climate risks by ALGA and the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

Speakers include:

  • Stephanie Lyons and Kieran Power (Nation Partners) on the approach and findings of this Australian-first research;
  • Amy Crawford (Chief Executive Officer) and Eleanor Robson Policy Director (Climate) – ALGA on how we’re seeing climate change impacting local governments nationally and our policy and advocacy to the Commonwealth Government for greater support;
