Adelaide Hills Council terminates CEO’s contract

Adelaide Hills Council has voted to terminate the employment contract of Chief Executive Officer Greg Georgopoulos, following a Special Meeting of Council.

Mr Georgopoulos joined the Council as CEO in July 2023 after five years as CEO at Kangaroo Island Council and previous local government roles at Prospect and City of Port Adelaide Enfield.

He has been involved in high-level complex leadership and major municipal and community projects within local government and the private sector for over 25 years.

In a statement, the Council said it had decided that a change in executive leadership was necessary “to best support our evolving strategic priorities and leadership demands”.

“The Council sincerely thanks Greg for his service, commitment to our community and contributions to our preparedness for future sustainability. The terms of the CEO’s contract entitle him to six months’ pay in lieu of the notice period.”

The Council has appointed Director of Environment and Infrastructure, Jade Ballantine, as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

“We will soon commence a comprehensive search for a new CEO as part of our refreshed strategic vision for the Adelaide Hills Council region.”

“We remain fully committed to delivering high-quality services and executing the initiatives that matter most to our ratepayers,” the Council said.
