Accessibility upgrade for Swan Hill town hall

VIC

Swan Hill Rural City Council has completed an upgrade to the accessible toilet facilities at the Swan Hill Town Hall PACC.

Director of Community and Cultural Services, Bruce Myers reaffirmed Council’s dedication to creating a fully inclusive community by ensuring facilities and services are accessible.

“Council became concerned after receiving community feedback about the difficulties people were experiencing when using the accessible toilet at the Swan Hill Town Hall,” said Mr Myers.

“In response to these concerns, the upgraded accessible toilet features a spacious layout for easy maneuvering, anti-slip vinyl floor covering, and a stainless steel baby changing table.

“The space has been freshly painted to create a clean, bright, and inviting atmosphere for users,” he said.

Local community member Maureen Hewitt, who played a significant part in initiating this upgrade, expressed her satisfaction with the overall result. She noted the facility is now much easier for patrons in wheelchairs, walkers, and buggies, along with parents with prams, to access the toilet.

“I’m really happy with the end result,” said Ms Hewitt.
