Kim Wheatley has been elected as the new Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Council, with Councillor Matt Devlin elected as Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Wheatley serves the Wahroonga ward and was first elected to the Council five years ago, before becoming Deputy Mayor in 2024.. With a strong corporate background, the Pymble resident has held senior executive roles in Australia and the United States.
On Council, Mayor Wheatley has served as Chair of the Heritage Reference Committee, as Council representative on the Sydney North Planning Panel, as delegate of the North Shore Police Area Command Community Safety Precinct Lindfield-Brookly and as a delegate of the Eryldene Trust Committee.
Mayor Wheatley said she was honoured to be elected to the position.
“It’s a great privilege to be elected Mayor and I thank my fellow councillors for their support,” she said.
“Having served this community for five years, I understand the priorities our residents care about and I look forward to leading a Council that delivers on them. I’ll continue to work closely with councillors and Council staff to serve the Ku-ring-gai community.
“I thank Councillor Christine Kay for her commitment and dedication for the last two years as Mayor.”
Deputy Mayor, Matt Devlin was elected to Ku-ring-gai Council in 2024 and represents the Comenarra Ward. He currently chairs the Flood Risk and Management Committee and the Ku-ring-gai Local Transport Forum, and holds several other committee roles across transport, bushfire management and community services. He is also a longstanding volunteer in the Rural Fire Service.
Cr Devlin said his focus has always been to serve the community, saying that “representing our community is such a rewarding experience and I will work hard to continue doing that as Deputy Mayor”.
