Camden’s popular Miss Llewella Davies Pioneer Walkway at Camden Town Farm has re-opened, following the damaging floods of last year.
The walkway was closed after the first flood of on 3 March 2022. Repair work was then delayed by a further three floods in March, April and July, which caused even more destruction at the site, Council said in a statement today.
Since then, Council has worked to repair and replace parts of the pathway surface, reconstruct fences, remove flood debris and replace lost and damaged signage.
Mayor, Ashleigh Cagney said she was pleased to see residents enjoying the walkway again.
“The Miss Llewella Davies Pioneer Walkway is one of the Camden area’s favourite spots to enjoy some fresh air and exercise,” she said.
“That’s why were committed to bring the walkway back to being safe and usable again for our community.
“Camden Town Farm was smashed with four floods with parts of the walkway five metres underwater for days on end, causing serious damage. We appreciate the community’s patience as we worked through these unexpected difficulties.”
The 2.4-kilometre track features the Nepean River Link, the Matahill Creek Loop and the Elizabeth Street Farm Link.
