The Queensland Government has announced details of the latest 10 community and council infrastructure projects that will share more than $10.3 million to deliver safer, more resilient, and more inclusive public spaces for South East and Far North Queensland communities.
Minister for Local Government and Water, Ann Leahy said the funding demonstrates the Government’s commitment to backing local councils and delivering real outcomes.
The funding will deliver improved community safety through expanded CCTV networks, upgraded recreation and youth facilities, stronger disaster resilience via multipurpose infrastructure, as well as upgraded amenities and revitalised town centres.
“The Crisafulli Government promised Queenslanders a fresh start – one where we take real action to support communities to thrive no matter where they live,” Minister Leahy said.
“Whether you live in Burleigh, Gatton, Caloundra, or Cairns, we’re doing exactly what we said we would and delivering on that promise.”
“These investments mean more than just upgraded buildings and new parks, they mean safer streets, better places for kids to play, and facilities communities can lean on in times of need.”
Projects funded in this round include:
- Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council – Multipurpose Place of Refuge (planning and design): $1.2 million;
- Brookfield Show Society – Brookfield Showground administration and pavilion upgrades: $150,000;
- Brisbane City Council – Inner-city City Safe CCTV expansion: $500,000;
- Brisbane City Council – CCTV upgrades at Mitchelton, Keperra and Alderley: $500,000;
- Gold Coast City Council – Burleigh Heads Safety Camera Network expansion: $500,000;
- Cairns Regional Council – Jeff Pezzutti Park youth activity space upgrade: $1.5 million;
- Lockyer Valley Regional Council – Playground upgrades at Laidley and Gatton: $500,000;
- Moreton Bay City Council – Clayton Park playground upgrade, Beachmere: $500,000;
- Noosa Shire Council – Gympie Terrace foreshore amenities block: $1 million;
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council – Caloundra CBD Community and Creative Hub precinct: $4 million.
