A further 10 projects have been declared as State Significant Development following recommendations from the NSW Government’s Housing Delivery Authority (HDA).
Of the proposals, eight are in metropolitan Sydney and two are in regional NSW.
“If all are lodged and approved, it could create more than 1,700 homes, including affordable housing across New South Wales,” the Government said in a statement announcing the new project declarations.
“There are now 492 state significant HDA proposals, which would create more than 152,000 homes. Twenty of these proposals have been approved, unlocking more than 4000 homes of which 10 projects have started construction.”
State Significant Development applications have also been lodged for a further 71 projects representing around 26,180 potential homes.
To date, State Significant Development declarations have been revoked from twenty-eight proposals which failed to meet timelines or where the applicant decided not to proceed. Â
Recommendations from the HDA are published as required under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 before the SSD declaration.
