Yarra City Council is paving the way for faster customer service and smarter management of the city’s $2 billion in public assets by partnering with Australian Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider, TechnologyOne, to modernise its outdated IT system.
The Council has chosen TechnologyOne’s innovative SaaS+ offering to roll out the integrated OneCouncil platform. This will provide staff with real-time reporting, budgeting and forecasting insights to efficiently manage its record $35.3 million Capital Works program and public assets.
With OneCouncil, residents can expect faster response times, easier access to services and improved communication. While Council staff will benefit from accurate, real-time data to support evidence-based decision making.

Council Chief Executive Officer, Sue Wilkinson said, “Home to Cremorne – described as Australia’s Silicon Valley as it continues to attract major technology firms and edgy start-ups – the City of Yarra is arguably the country’s most tech savvy municipality. Therefore, it is crucial that we reflect this with a contemporary IT system that can be delivered and accessed any time, on any device, from anywhere connected to the internet – one that provides our community with a faster and more efficient service.”
“By automating and streamlining our operations, customer requests will be handled more quickly, with less waiting time and fewer follow-ups. The process will not only be faster, but more accurate. Not only is it vastly more efficient system, but it will also provide savings over the longer term that can then be invested back into community services,” she said.
OneCouncil integrates finance, property and compliance, enterprise asset management, human resources and payroll, and document management into one system, removing the silos that have long plagued the administration of Australian councils and helping unlock productivity and efficiency benefits on an integrated ERP.
The digital uplift demonstrates how Victorian councils can embrace innovation, stay within rate caps, and still deliver stronger community outcomes.
EVP for Local Government at TechnologyOne, Ben Malpass said an integrated finance and asset management system is critical for councils to deliver better services with fewer resources.
“We are proud to partner with Yarra City Council as they gain real-time insights, improve accountability, and invest smarter in their vibrant inner metropolitan community of over 100,000 people,” he said.
More than 73% of Australian and New Zealand residents currently live in a council powered by TechnologyOne software.
