Willoughby City Council is set to host a series of webinars to guide home builders and renovators on resilient design, sustainable building materials and water efficiency.
Mayor, Tanya Taylor said the need to integrate sustainability into home design and renovation has never been more crucial with escalating environmental concerns.
“Sustainable building practices not only contribute to environmental preservation but also bolster the resilience, efficiency, and longevity of homes,” Cr Taylor said.
“This Willoughby City Council initiative, for prospective builders and renovators, stems from of an increased demand in our community to be more informed on what they can do to create homes that are resilient and responsible.
“As extreme weather events become more prevalent, the necessity for resilient housing that can preserve energy, water and withstand elements is paramount.
“We are thrilled to announce our four-part webinar series to guide individuals on this journey,” the Mayor said.
The ‘Introduction to Sustainable Building’ series is presented by sustainable design experts Renew and will cover:
- Designing Resilient Homes: Learn the principles of designing homes that can withstand the challenges of a changing climate;
- Selecting Sustainable Building Materials: Dive into the world of eco-friendly materials and discover how to make informed choices for your project;
- Incorporating Greenery and Water Efficiency: Explore the benefits of integrating green spaces and water-efficient solutions into your home design;
- Selecting the Right Team: Gain insights into assembling a team of professionals dedicated to sustainable building practices.
The webinars are being held partnership with Ku-ring-gai Council, Lane Cove Council, Mosman Council, and North Sydney Council.
