West Coast Council to review waste management costs

Tasmania’s West Coast Council is seeking expressions of interest for a review of waste management costs and fees and charges.

Council says the aim of the review is to understand the costs of different parts of the waste system and to ensure that as far as possible relevant users pay an appropriate share of those costs.

“This includes balancing revenue between user fees and fixed charges through the rates system,” Council said in a statement.

It said the review would provide an assessment of costs, including projections for the near future and make recommendations on options for user fees and rates.

“West Coast Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitable qualified consultants to undertake this work. Expressions of interest should include the consultants previous experience and expected hourly/daily rates for relevant team members.”

“From the expressions of interest process Council will select a preferred supplier to negotiate a proposal with.”

Expressions of interest are due by 17 September 2021 and should be directed to wcc@westcoast.tas.gov.au.
