Three Victorian councils have picked up awards from local government member association, LGPro, as part of LGPro’s Awards for Excellence ceremony overnight.
Greater Dandenong City Council took out the Customer Experience Award for its EventConnect initiative. The Council’s work sought to replace complex event permit processes with a streamlined, customer-centric process which has subsequently encouraged the local community to create free community events.
“The CX Award recognises customer service improvements that enhance a council’s overall customer experience through innovative strategies, exceptional service delivery, and a commitment to customer satisfaction,” LGPro judges said in a statement.

Kingston City Council picked up the Community and Integrated Planning Award for broadening the scope of community feedback on its budget planning.
“Kingston has innovated its budget planning by inviting feedback year-round, empowering residents and businesses to shape decisions from the outset. This shift has transformed the budget process from reactive to proactive,” LGPro judges said.
“The Community and Integrated Planning Award celebrates broad-ranging planning success, with a focus on excellence in the diverse forms of planning, from sustainable community and service planning to Council planning. The award highlights initiatives for their transparent reporting, performance measurement, and how well they empower communities.”

Monash and Kingston City Councils each nabbed a Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Award. Kingston won for its virtual reality program (pictured, above) that put VR in the hands of seniors, fostering connection, storytelling, and digital literacy.
Monash council won with a storytelling competition that brought young people and older adults together to celebrate meaningful relationships and foster mutual understanding.
“The Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Awards highlights the local government teams working towards improved health and wellbeing outcomes for people as they age,” LGPRo stated.
“Formerly known as the Active Ageing and Wellbeing Awards, LGPro’s Positive Ageing and Wellbeing Awards have been rebadged to reflect Local Government’s refocus from service delivery to capacity building in promoting health and wellbeing as they strive for an age-friendly society.”

The four wins were celebrated at LGPro’s 2025 Annual Conference this week.
