Up-light replacement project for Cowes

Bass Coast Shire Council is set to replace up-lights located underneath five of the Golden Cypress trees along Thompson Avenue in Cowes in coming weeks.

Council is undertaking the project with funding received as part of the State Government’s Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Initiative.

Work is expected to begin on Monday, 11 October and be finished by mid-November.

The project will include the removal of nine existing 240-volt in ground up lights, which will be replaced with new LED lights, as well as the required electrical works.

This project will also enhance the Cowes Christmas light display, as power will also be sourced from the upgraded outlets, Council said in a statement.

“Appropriate pedestrian control measures will be in place when the work is being undertaken, with temporary fencing to be installed for the duration of the project. Some car parking might be impacted during the construction period,” Council said.

“Council understands that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby businesses and properties and appreciates your patience during these times. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions.”
