Baw Baw Shire Council has welcomed the news that it will soon be home to two new kindergartens.
The Victorian School Building Authority announced the new kindergartens will be located at the Neerim South Primary School and Warragul Regional College, with both set to open in 2028.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor, Kate Wilson says the news will have far-reaching effects for families across the Shire, with Council continuing to grapple with massive growth resulting in an overwhelming demand for kindergarten spots.
“This is fantastic news for our local families with young children, and it will help to slightly alleviate the pressure on the local kindergarten system, which we know is seeing ever-increasing demands,” Mayor Wilson said.
“This is a wonderful example of Council working closely with the State Government to deliver additional services that our community need, as we have been lobbying for many years now for more kinders in our area.
“Council will continue to advocate in this space, as this outcome demonstrates what can be achieved when we work together.
“I hope to see many more announcements like this for our local area.”
The State Government is delivering the facilities as part of its Best Start, Best Life reforms.
Planning for these new kindergartens is now underway, with construction to commence in 2027 and service delivery expected to start in 2028.
