Toowoomba library cafe goes to tender

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has invited tenders for the lease of the Café at the Toowoomba City Library.

Located on the entrance of the Library, TRC Environment and Community Committee Chair, Councillor James O’Shea said it was an ideal opportunity for someone wanting to set up a business.

“We all know the library is well-utilised and this would be a chance for someone to enhance the customer experience while attending the library with the set up of a café,” he said.

“We know businesses have had a number of challenges over the past year so this could potentially be a way for someone to get back up and running.

“Council has added favourable weighting for a social enterprise business into the tender documents. While we welcome any commercial applications, we think an opportunity exists for social enterprise that would be well-placed to use the existing facility.

“There would be little outlay required as the café is fully equipped and centrally located to a large number of offices. The lease includes the equipped kitchen as well as indoor and outdoor dining areas.”

Tenders can be received electronically via VendorPanel or the Tender Box at 4 Little Street, Toowoomba, until 2pm on Tuesday 13 April 2021.
