Third term for Wyndham Mayor

Iramoo Ward Councillor, Peter Maynard, has been elected Mayor of Wyndham City following last night’s Council meeting – his third term in the top job.

Cr Maynard (pictured) previously served as Mayor in 2014-15 and 2017-18, after first being elected to Council in 2012.

Harrison Ward Councillor, Jasmine Hill, was elected Deputy Mayor.

Cr Maynard said he was honoured to be elected to the position.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to become Mayor of Wyndham City,” he said.

“It is a great honour and a privilege to lead this City as we recover from the COVID pandemic.

“I will work closely with my fellow Councillors and use this opportunity to advocate strongly on behalf of all residents.

“I’m certainly looking forward to getting out and about and seeing as many residents as possible following months of restrictions and lockdowns.

“This is an important time for our residents and Council. We are spending a record $196 million on capital works projects this financial year. That’s more ovals, more parks, more community centres, better roads and bike and walking paths,” the new Mayor said.
