The City of Casey and the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority (VHHSBA) have been working together to identify a proposed location for the new Cranbourne Community Hospital.
The Cranbourne Community Hospital will be the first of 10 new community hospitals being built as part of the Victorian Government’s $675 million program to boost health services in major growth areas and will provide health services to the community including medical imaging, inpatient day clinic, specialist care, chronic disease care, and family and children’s services.
The proposed site currently being considered for the hospital is a 1.7 hectare parcel of land located at 65 Berwick Cranbourne Road adjoining the Casey Stadium and Cranbourne Admin Building. This site currently accommodates the Balla Balla Community Centre and overflow parking for the Casey Stadium, and is near other facilities including the Administration Building and Casey RACE.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators, Noelene Duff said the VHHSBA had been working closely with the City of Casey to identify a proposed location situated within a central location that would enable the growing communities in Cranbourne and Clyde to access health services.
“We are committed to working with the State Government to find a suitable location for the new community hospital to ensure that our growing communities have access to vital health services, while also working to create additional jobs and infrastructure for the region,” said Ms Duff.
“This is the first stage of the process to enable the community to tell us how they feel about the proposed land sale and I encourage the community to have their say via our Casey Conversations online engagement portal.
“A new community hospital would immensely benefit our growing communities of Cranbourne and Clyde to have services close to home and supports our larger vision for the Cranbourne township as part of the Revitalise Cranbourne project.”
As part of evaluating the site’s appropriateness, Council will support VHHSBA in undertaking traffic/noise/dust/parking studies.
Community members have been invited to provide their feedback on the proposed land sale that would enable the hospital to be built at this location. Feedback can be provided, from 11 February to 11 March, on the Casey Conversations website.
