Shire of Murray President returned

Douglas McLarty has been elected unopposed as Shire of Murray President in the 2025 Local Government Elections for a two-year term.

Mr McLarty (pictured) was first elected to Council in October 2017 and has been in the position of Shire President since March this year.

An election will be held on Saturday, 18 October to fill four Councillor vacancies for four years and one vacancy for two years to give effect to the changes to local representation.

The six Councillor nominees are:

  • Stewart Carter
  • Stuart Kirkham
  • Rob Cashman
  • Brett McGuinness
  • Prue George
  • Geoff Black
