Shire of Murray awards Wharf Cove tender

The Shire of Murray has awarded the tender for the design, demolition and construction of Wharf Cove jetty upgrades to Ciltech.

Shire of Murray President, Councillor David Bolt said the upgrade was important to the growth of recreational boating within the Peel Region.

“The upgrades to Wharf Cove jetties will provide improved functionality and access to waterways,” said Cr Bolt.

“The jetties will provide ample temporary berthing for power boats and improve accessibility for all kinds of boaters.

“Further upgrades to the footpath along the jetty will renew the promenade, making it a more user-friendly area with access to nearby restaurants, a tavern and playground.”

The two-stage project saw four floating finger jetties installed in Wharf Cove in 2022. With Ciltech appointed, the Shire hopes the final four jetties will be available for use in early 2024. The previous jetties were replaced due to wear and age so newer jetties also improve safety for all users.

The project is a major initiative of the Shire of Murray Council Plan and is supported by the
Department of Transport (Marine) Recreational Boating Facilities Fund.
