AlburyCity Council is calling for community input to its review of plans to prepare the Thurgoona Wirlinga area for future growth.
Council has released a discussion paper outlining new planning options and strategies for developing the area and will use feedback to update the current 2013 Thurgoona Wirlinga Precinct Structure Plan, which guides subdivisions, development and infrastructure.
Census data from 2021 indicates that the Thurgoona Wirlinga population is now more than 11,000 and is growing at around 500 per year.
Mayor, Kylie King says this is expected to continue for the foreseeable future with the population expected to ultimately swell to 50,000 people by 2070.
She says the discussion paper is an opportunity for Thurgoona Wirlinga residents to be involved in shaping the future of their community.
“We’ve heard from the Thurgoona Wirlinga and broader community through a number of consultation activities held last year, including very well attended community and industry information sessions,” said Mayor King.
“Now we want to present this discussion paper to the community to see if the new strategies we’re proposing reflect what we’ve heard so far and gauge their support for how we can improve the area into the future.”
