NSW Country Mayors congratulate new Nationals leader

The Country Mayors Association of NSW (CMA) has extended its congratulations to the new Leader of the NSW National Party, Member for Coffs Harbour, Gurmesh Singh.

CMA Chairman, Temora Shire Mayor Rick Firman OAM said, “The CMA Board, our 96 members and staff look forward to working with Mr Singh, as well as his Deputy Leader, Kevin Anderson MP, Member for Tamworth.”

“The CMA already has a strong relationship with the new Nationals Leader and Mr Singh addressed our members at a General Meeting of the CMA at NSW Parliament House last week.

“CMA is apolitical, as we work with the Government, Opposition, Cross benchers – anyone who can genuinely assist us in strengthening our rural, remote and regional communities”, Mayor Firman said.

The Chairman, Board, Members and Staff also acknowledged the service of the now former Leader, Dugald Saunders.

“Mr Saunders has certainly contributed much to rural communities across NSW during his time as Leader and indeed as a Minister in the previous Government. The Board, Members and Staff wish Mr Saunders and his family all the very best.  We’re pleased to see that Mr Saunders will remain as a Member of Parliament,” said Mayor FIrman.

“At the CMA, we are proud that we have a fair dinkum and solid relationship with both Government, Opposition and Cross Bench MPs and MLCs.  If we all play with a straight bat, we can’t go too far wrong,” he said.
