New round of housing fund opens for applications

Housing Australia has opened Round 3 of the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), with funding available to support the delivery of up to 21,350 social and affordable homes across Australia.

The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) will host a webinar on 13 March, to share information about how local governments can access HAFF funding. Information on how to register will be shared soon via ALGA Alert and social media.

“In the interim, councils may wish to engage early with Community Housing Providers and relevant state or territory agencies to identify opportunities for partnership proposals. Round 3 introduces four tailored funding streams, each designed to attract long-term partnerships and a wide range of project types and delivery models:

Stream 1 – First Nations: Supporting more homes owned by First Nations housing providers, addressing the housing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander households and contributing to Closing the Gap objectives.

Stream 2 – Housing Diversity: Improving housing outcomes across a range of locations and cohorts, including regional, rural and high-need areas, to support liveability, economic opportunity and responses to acute housing pressures.

Stream 3 – States and Territories: Partnerships with state and territory governments to unlock and accelerate housing delivery and support long-term, place-based outcomes.

Stream 4 – Partnerships at Scale: Enabling larger-scale, timely delivery by supporting partnerships capable of delivering homes efficiently at scale.

Further information, including eligibility and submission details, is available on the Housing Australia website.
