Barunga West Council is celebrating the completion of the Port Broughton Civic Square redevelopment after four years of planning.
Key features of the makeover include a new water play area – which will operate daily throughout summer from 7am to 10pm – with illuminated water jets at night, artwork by renowned artist Linda Turner showcased on eight totem poles marking the entrance to the Wawi Buldu Walk, and repaving and landscaping of the surrounding area.
The War Memorial has also received respectful upgrades, including a new Memorial wall with ‘Lest We Forget’ in raised lettering, fresh flagpoles, re-rendered plinth, and enhanced lighting to honour those who served.
“A huge thank you to the Port Broughton RSL for their support and contributions during this project,” the Council said in a statement.
“We can’t wait to see locals and visitors enjoying this vibrant new community space.”
