Goulburn Mulwaree has new leadership, following the election of Councillor Peter Walker as Mayor until September 2023.
First elected to Council in 2016, Cr Walker has served as Deputy Mayor since 2018.
At last night’s meeting, councillors “chose to move in a new direction” and rescind a motion to elect a Deputy Mayor, the Council said in a statement.
“There will be no Deputy Mayor of Goulburn Mulwaree for this term, being until September 2023,” it said.
“Council will share the duties of the Deputy Mayor between the remaining eight councillors, depending on skill set, experience and the situation. This will be discussed in detail at a future briefing of Council.”
Mayor Walker will lead a team of nine councillors, including five first time councillors. The first meeting covering general business of Council will be held on Tuesday 1 February.
