New Mayor for Wyndham City

Harrison Ward Councillor, Susan McIntyre, has been elected Mayor of Wyndham City for the next 12 months.

Mayor McIntyre was first elected to Council in 2020 and holds the Community Safety portfolio. Councillor Jennie Barrera was elected Deputy Mayor.

Mayor McIntyre said she was honoured to be elected to the position.

“I’m extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to lead this wonderful City,” Cr McIntyre said.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Deputy Mayor and my fellow Councillors over the next 12 months.”

Mayor McIntyre said she would continue her efforts to help improve the safety of people in their homes and neighbourhoods during her Mayoral term.

“Community safety is so important. I’m very passionate about making Wyndham a safe place for everyone so I’ll be continuing to work hard implementing and advocating for programs to prevent crime, raise community safety awareness and improve perceptions of safety.”

She said advocating for a greater share of funding from State and Federal Governments was also high on her agenda.

“I will work closely with my fellow Councillors and use this opportunity to advocate strongly on behalf of all residents.”

“Wyndham City is growing rapidly, and we need to make sure we get our fair share of funding from State and Federal Governments.”
